Further research of Hansard will reveal that James Hill MP had it confirmed that all of the six acts are still extant.
The M3 contractors ignoring the 6 acts ripped out the side of the navigation just below st catherine's bay lock and diverted it across the water meadows. This permitted them to put a drainage pipe under the M3 at hockley cros more…

Hurrah, the government has finally woken up to the fact we don't want more nuclear power if we can help it, and we can't rely on dodgy supplies of foreign gas for our electricity.

Eyesores they may be but masses of offshore wind farms are the way to go. They are actually quite pretty in comparison to many power stations.

The idea of a rotating fragment (like the mid-terms in the US) is not a bad one, but might encourage people to take a very short-term view of things. It's one thing that might be considered if we have a fully elected House of Lords (we'd call it a Senate, I guess).

Be careful in thinking that proportional systems are better for demo more…

What has annoyed me is that he (one individual) is arrogant enough to beleive he knows what is best for the rest of us.
Don't forget Hitler came to power in a democratic election, we've been lucky in this country (so far).

Our democracy gives us a say only once every 4-5 years, excepting what can be gained by protest. Government more…

How would you change it? Should the people vote everytime a decision needs to be made? That would be rather time consuming and difficult to administer.

A representative democracy, like Britain's, seems to be the best way to do things in the modern age. The people elect their representatives to lead and to govern. If they don't like more…

Update : Came across the Carver Trike - very expensive at 30-40K Euros - it isn't in mass production yet.
I'm still following up with various car companies - Citroen did an electric van (Berlingo)- it may still be available but would need converting.

Meanwhile petrol is rising in cost - increasing the differential with electrici more…

Yee Haaa, Even George Dubya Bush has seen the light! In his state of the Union address last night he admitted America was addicted to Oil.

Mind you it's in their economic interest to reduce dependency so something will happen.

12 mph will seem pretty good when the alternative is spending an absolute fortune on petrol. Besides, with congestion on roads gettings worse it won't be possible to go any faster

I think there won't be a large scale move until the economics are pushing it. At present oil based fuels are cheaper. At present savings from switching to a more…

    Greetings:

The World's excessive use of oil is a consequence of it's abundance, proliferation of more powerful machines and a need for non-oil producing nations to snuggle with our Arab devils.

I thought this might interest you: Tony Blair used Bob Geldof, the Live 8 promoter. It was a brilliant peace of manipulation, as much as I hate it. See my blog for more. more…
